Amanda Baer Named Partner

Westborough, Mass. — April 1, 2021 — Mirick O’Connell announced today that Amanda M. Baer has been admitted to the Partnership in the Firm’s Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Group.

“Amanda joined the Firm nearly 10 years ago and over that time has developed into a key member of the Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Group,” according to David E. Surprenant, Managing Partner of Mirick O’Connell.

Amanda regularly advises employers on a myriad of human resources issues, drafts handbooks and policies, leads manager-level trainings, and drafts all types of employment-related agreements. She also conducts independent investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

As an employment litigator, Amanda defends employers of all sizes, including Fortune 100 and Fortune 400 companies, against claims of and/or involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, disability accommodation, and wage and hour laws. On behalf of employers, she prosecutes and defends claims involving noncompetition, nonsolicitation, and confidentiality agreements. “As Chair of the Group, I am pleased to welcome Amanda to the partnership,” says Jonathan R. Sigel. “She is a valuable member of our Team and Firm.”

Amanda is a magna cum laude graduate from Georgetown University Law Center and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Connecticut, as well as being admitted to practice before the United States District Court of the District of Massachusetts the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, and the United States Supreme Court. She also practices before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) and the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO).
